Cutting expenses on utilities

CASE 1. DISTRIBUTING MASKS ACCORDING TOO NECESSITY

All employees at our entertainment center dutifully comply with safety and hygiene requirements. As for Guests, they’re recommended to wear masks, but never forced to.
FUN24 is one of the few places in Kazan where masks are distributed at the entry free of charge. To prevent hoarding, the cashier always asks first if the Guests has a mask or not. If they have one, they’re recommended to wear it. If they don’t, they’re given one.

Win-win: masks are cheap enough to just give them out to those who forgot to bring one. In case of investigation by controlling organs, everything will be fine: all employees and Guests will have masks on them.

Economy: when asked, only a third of Guests say they need a mask. Each mask costs us 5 rubles. Multiply two thirds of the amount of Guests by five, and you can imagine how much you can save. In our case, it’s more than 50 thousand rubles per month.

CASE 2. SAY NO TO WI-FI

For a large entertainment center with high attendance, free Wi-Fi for everyone is going to cost you. At the same time, free Wi-Fi has come out of necessity; almost everyone phone is connected to mobile internet. So, a couple of months ago we just switched Wi-Fi off… and no one has complained about it since.

Of course, there’s still Wi-Fi for office employees, but this is a necessity that doesn’t cost as much.

Economy: about 35 thousand rubles per month.

CASE 3. CHOOSE LED LIGHT

We in our entertainment center are gradually substituting incandescent lamps with LED lights. LED lights are more energy efficient and ‘green’, shine brighter and serve longer. They are, of course, more expensive, but they allow to reduce expenses on electricity in the long term. LED lights are also cheaper in maintenance as they don’t have to be changed too often.

Dishes: Plastic or Glass?

As the chef or owner are responsible for the concept of cuisine, they also decide on the table layout. Many entertainment businesses make use of disposable dishes. These plates and glasses and whatnot can be branded to promote special offers and events. Other advantages are: fewer janitors and dishwashers, no need to buy dish washing machines, etc. In large entertainment centers, Guests can grab food and take it to bowling or pool; if the dishes were ceramic or glass, they would have to be collected all throughout the center. But we still prefer glass dishes, even for fast-food. Washing one plate is cheaper than buying tons of plastic ones. Eventually, expenses are lower, and quality of service is higher, as glass dishes and metal cutlery advance the center to another level.
